Focus Forward $200,000 Filmmaking Challenge

Enter the $200,000 Filmmaker Challenge! If you’re a filmmaker with an idea for a three-minute nonfiction film around the theme of invention and innovation (or can come up with one), then it’s time to get to work! They’re giving away $200,000 in cash prizes to the top five entries in the Focus Forward Filmmaker Challenge, with $100,000 going to the Grand Prize Winner. (Yes, you read that right.) Submissions open April 23rd, 2012 and close August 23rd. Winners will be announced at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. Share It” on-line video competition for users of its popular AG-AF100 large image HD cinema camera. The Indie Short Film Competition is an annual international short film and video competition open to all independent filmmakers from around the world regardless of their nationality or origin. "Why Do You Explore?" National Geographic Short Film Competition

As humanity faces an increasing number of challenges, it’s critically important to push the boundaries of knowledge and to uncover innovative new ways of thinking about our planet—and ourselves. So we’re hosting a video contest that asks: “Why do YOU explore?” A full library of assets is available in our online editor tool to help videomakers tell their stories – or they can submit original pre-edited pieces (they must confirm they either own or have full rights to use all images and music in their videos). This contest provides entrants with a prestigious platform to promote their video work and artistic expression. The Cutty Sark Short Film Competition Filmmakers, take note! Cutty Sark, together with the Centre for the Moving Image (CMI), is excited to announce a short film competition! Named after the famous tea Clipper, Cutty Sark has always had a sense of adventure and a pioneering spirit at its heart. It's this personality of the brand - The Spirit of Adventure - that we are looking for contestants to capture in a 60-90 second short film. A judging panel will look for those films that fuse the sociable nature of the brand with a sense of adventure. Any adventure, however great or small, can be portrayed. A shortlist of 10 entries will be selected by a panel of judges and and showcased at EIFF 2012. The winning filmmaker will receive a £5,000 commission from Cutty Sark to develop part of the on-going global visual communications for the brand. LEVI'S "SHOW US THE WAY" FILMMAKING COMPETITION

The art of film can change the world, but only if you make it so. It is your responsibility as visual artists and the new leaders of tomorrow to dare to improve the world through your creations. Therefore, Levi Strauss & Co. and the American Film Institute have collaborated to help amplify the voice of future pioneers as they take the first step toward their destiny. Submit your treatment for the chance to produce a five-minute short film about a tomorrow that is better than today. Each of the six winning participants will receive $5,000 to make their film as well as an additional $500 for a Levi's® wardrobe for their cast. Winning participants will also be given 10 hours with an AFI mentor who will provide an experienced perspective.
