Digital Bolex Grant for Women Cinematographers Now Receiving Applications Reprinted from Indie wire By Inkoo Kang  Cinematography is one of the film industry's least equal fields. In the last five years, women accounted for just 3% of all cinematographers among the 250 top-grossing films. In what might be the only current effort from a film tech company to address gender disparity behind the camera by offering female-specific grants, the Digital Bolex Grant for Women Cinematographers is now accepting applications. The John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation provides fellowships for advanced professionals in all fields -- including the natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, and  creative arts  -- except the performing arts. Often characterized as "midcareer" awards, the fellowships are intended for individuals who have already demonstrated exceptional capacity for productive scholarship or exceptional creative ability in the arts. The foundation will provide fellowships to  composers but not conductors, singers, or instrumentalists; choreographers but not dancers;  filmmakers,  playwrights, and performance artists who create their own work but not actors or theater directors.
